give me a break

It's been a while... but I can remember hearing this phrase pretty often. Someone (never me!) would be telling a story - and the story would be so "extraordinary" that it would be hard to believe... as the tall tale got bigger someone would say "give me a break."

It has not been so long since I've heard the phrase... but in a different context. This one goes something like this. I have been working so hard... so many folks have been asking me to do so many things... I don't think I can handle it any more... "GIVE ME A BREAK."

This week is Spring Break week for us. Yesterday was just another work day for me. This morning is just another work day, but starting this afternoon - "GIVE ME A BREAK!"

I'm so excited about it that I can hardly wait. I feel like we shold have left this morning - who can focus when you have something coming up that you are looking forward to so much?

We are going to begin our break with one of our favorite family activities - Jeeping. We are going to follow that up by visiting one of our family favorite places. I like the offroad challenge... I am excited about the rest of our activities... but the best part is... together.

Struggling to stay focussed this morning has reminded me of an important lesson.

When you are really looking forward to something it dramatically changes the present. When you are looking forward to something it dramatically changes what you think about. When you are looking forward it motivates you to get ready.

What are you looking forward to? This morning I am looking forward to our spring break activities... but not as much as I am learning to look forward to that break... "let's pay attention, since the promise of entering His rest remains, so that none of us will fall short of it... there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God."

Ray, I hope that yall have a fantastic Jeeping experience!! I hope that you got to have some breathing time. That is so important.

I am looking forward to being with the group of folks that I love...to study God's word. Any day that we can get together is a good day for me.

Ultimately, I yearn for that Sabbath rest that we can look forward to with Jesus...now THAT will be the best "break" huh? :-)

Take care....

Loved this thought. You always put things in such perspective for me. Thanks for the challenge and thanks (more so) for the encouragement.

Love you,
