keep your eyes on the road...

Katelynn is almost finished with her driver's education. She has the best driver's ed teacher ever... or maybe not! I find myself remembering all these little lessons that I need to pass on to her. Things to always do... and things to never do. One of the lessons that has kept coming up is where to look.

When we are driving there are temptations to look around in the car. Sometimes we look only at what is right in front of us. There are distinct dangers with both. If something happens inside the car we may be so distracted at checking our phone, reading a text, picking up what fell... that we miss what is happening outside of the car - what a danger. If we focus only on what is right in front of us we miss so much. The light may be changing, there may be a stop sign, someone may be pulling out into our lane of traffic... or slowing down... or there may be something in the road... what a danger when we fail to see these things. So the lesson has been keep your eyes up. See what is coming.

We live life this way. Sometimes we are so caught up in our own problems - many which are inside of us that we are focussed only on them. We miss so much that goes on around us - and much of it is dangerous. Other times we can only see the problems around us. We drive through life only seeing the immediate - the here and now. This too is dangerous.

Faith teaches us to get our eyes up, our hearts and minds up. There are things we know by faith that make it possible to see differently. To see what others cannot see. To know what others cannot know. To live like others cannot live.

Today... get your eyes up.
Today... read 2 Corinthians 4:16-18.
Today... keep your eyes on the road... and the ONE who ran this path ahead of you... and now runs it with you!

think

"Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost."

- John Quincy Adams

are you concerned for the future of the USA?

PRAY!

I hear... and I have said much about the future of the USA. I don't know about you... although if you are not concerned it seems to me that you would be part of a small group. This morning I am impressed with how important it is that we do this. We must pray. A good friend forwarded this to me. I share it with you as a possible starting point. Whether you pray these suggestions or others - please join me in praying for our country.
